BUCKET EVAPORATION TEST
If you're concerned your pool is leaking try this simple 24 hour test. Follow the instructions below.
1. Fill a bucket with water until about 3cm from the top of bucket
2. Place bucket on first or second step of pool
3. Mark water level on inside of bucket
4. Shut off pump and mark water level on outside of bucket (or on pool surface or inside skimmer)
5. Run pool as normal, check water level 24 hours later and re-mark and compare water levels.
6. Its really quite simple - if the pool loses more than the bucket you have a leak.
The rate of evaporation can vary daily because of a variety of environmental and pool related conditions such as wind, water temperature, dew point and barometric pressure. Before determining whether or not your pool has a leak, you can perform this simple test to see what is causing the water loss. The Bucket Evaporation Test exposes water in a bucket to the same conditions as those affecting your pool water. By comparing the water loss in each, you can determine whether your pool has a leak or if the loss of water is caused by evaporation
